For Sale is a prototype for production models of other available size shops and offices built around shipping containers with self-contained off grid solar electric.
This 40 X 8 X 9.5 tall shipping container has 320 square feet of floor space. It has 980 square feet total under roof including the vinyl tension structure attached to the outside of the container. This unit is designed for a South to North setup with solar panels facing south.
The tension structure bolts to your shipping container with the upright posts anchored in concrete. South and west walls outside of the entry end have vinyl walls with see-through vinyl mesh windows. This feature blocks the prevailing SW wind (Hesperia, CA) and rain and allows for a view of your surroundings.
90 mph wind-load-rated tension structure is made with 18-ounce USA vinyl fabric stretched over a steel tubing frame. Lifespan of the vinyl is 10 plus years and can be extended with an annual treatment with APCO vinyl protector. Just simply mop it on at the time you clean the solar panels.
There is plenty of space for your hand tools and hardware inside the container and 660 square feet of protected area outside for table saws and lumber, welders, drill presses and more.
Under cover space extends 9 ft 6 in from the container. The covered area is 9 ft 6 in X 17 ft 6 in on the entry end. On the long side the undercover space is 49 ft 6 in X 9 ft 6 in. Total sheltered space is 17 ft 6 in x 49 ft 6 in.
This unit has 3 KW solar electric with one 24-volt Lithium battery with space for an additional battery for extended backup during cloudy weather. There are four 20-amp breakers and one 40-amp breaker for electric buildout to suite your needs. 6 KW is available on future builds.
The container storage doors have been removed and replaced with a 72-inch wide X 80-inch-tall sliding glass door. An air vent is installed above the door and there is an exhaust fan at the back end.
Your shelter is built in kit form and the external tension frame bolts together. Setup time is about 2-3 days depending on how many helpers you have, the foundation requirements and any possible local permitting. Each upright pillar requires an 18-inch-deep hole and concrete and will need to set 24 hours before vinyl fabric is tensioned in place.
Options include exterior insulation up to R46 on the top, R30 beneath the floor and R26 on the outsides with rain screen between the siding and insulation, (Putting insulation inside the container is an idiot’s endeavor) Heat Recovery Ventilation, ducted AC, plumbing and more.
We are licensed to build motorhomes and travel trailers (anything with axels) but not Alternative Dwelling Units.
Asking price is $26,000. Buyer pays for transportation, permitting, concrete and assembly. Assembly is not rocket science.
This will be available in July, 2026. Our market is Southern California, Nevada and Arizona.
Included are photos of other projects we have done. Photo of solar inverter and batteries is not what is being offered.
